Where can I find information on mergers & acquisitions?

Answer

You can access mergers and acquisitions (M&A) data through several Yale‑licensed databases:

S&P Capital IQ — Offers both browsing and screening options.

  • Browse: Markets → [Industry] → Transactions → M&A/Private Placements
  • Screen: Screening → Transaction Screening → Types → Merger/Acquisition, then refine criteria
  • WRDS users can also search for M&A Transactions in the Capital IQ - Transactions dataset

LSEG Workspace — Provides M&A data from LSEG (formerly Refinitiv).

  • Browse via the Deals Market Overview (DealsMOV) or select Company Deals from an individual company page.
  • Search or screen for deals using DSCREEN and select M&A as the Asset Class in the left navigation menu.

SDC Platinum — Also from LSEG, with a deeper historical backfile dating to 1979. Note the 30‑day embargo on recent deals. Accessible via LSEG Workspace or WRDS.

Bloomberg — Enter MA <go>

Bloomberg is available on designated workstations in Marx Library and at the School of Management. For more information, visit http://guides.library.yale.edu/Bloomberg.
