Q: I'm trying to access OverDrive but I'm getting an error message.

If you are receiving an error message from Overdrive, try these options:

Clear your cache and cookies

  1. Tap Home menu, then Settings
  2. Tap Delete app cookies, then tap Delete app cookies again to confirm.

In browser

If you are off-campus and were reading an Overdrive book in your browser, make sure you have authenticated using your NetID and password. You can do this by either:

  • Refreshing your browser session (you may loose your spot in the book),
  • Accessing the title again via Quicksearch to re-start your off-campus access, or
  • if that does not work you can sign into Cisco AnyConnect VPN

For information on off-campus access (not using VPN) see the video below.

Re-install the Overdrive app on your device

Please note: This option is only for users using the Overdrive app. You will lose your title and download history with this option.

  1. You will first need to de-authorize the app by going to the app Home menu
    • Select Account, then Sign Out
  2. Select Settings then Adobe ID
    • Make a note of the email address you used to authorize the app (you'll need it to sign in with later), then select Deauthorize
  3. Tap the icon in the top-left corner to open the Home menu
  4. Uninstall the OverDrive app
    • This will remove all data in the app, including downloaded titles and history.
  5. Restart your device
  6. Reinstall the OverDrive app
