Q: How can I tell when an eBook or audiobook will be available on Overdrive?
Answered by: Laura Galas

If you are viewing the record for an eBook or audiobook and you are being prompted to "Place a Hold," the item is currently checked out to another user.

You can see the number of available copies the library owns as well as the number of patrons who have placed a hold on the title in the orange box titled "Copies" on the bottom right side of the record.

In this case, the library owns 5 copies and 11 people have a hold on each copy. (This is an extreme example.)

Loans periods are 7 days, 14 days, or 21 days. The patron determines the loan period.

Alternatively, you may request a print copy of the item through either Borrow Direct or Interlibrary Loan. More information about using these services can be found here.
