Q: What is the process for connecting to webmail from off-campus now that I have to use Multifactor Authentication/Duo Security?

When you are off-campus, you will have to use Multifactor Authentication to connect. Enter your netID and password, then click “Sign in.”

You will see the following prompt from Duo Security.

Below, you'll find step-by-step instructions for authenicating using each option.

DUO PUSH

Select “Duo Push” to receive a prompt on your mobile device.

Select “Approve” and you will automatically log in to your webmail.

PHONE CALL

If you choose “Phone Call” when authenticating, you will receive a phone call from our Yale IT Department. When you answer the phone, select “1” to authenticate.

PASSCODE

You may also authenticate using a password. You can use the DUO app to generate a password:

Click on the key icon to generate a password.

Enter the passcode into the blank password field on the Duo Security page.

OR you can have a passcode sent to your mobile device when you select “Send SMS passcodes.”

When you receive a passcode on your mobile device, enter it into the password field on the DUO Security page.
