Q: There seems to be a problem with my account, as I can’t get access to course reserves. What should I do?

Instructors/Teaching Assistants: If you are an instructor or a teaching assistant, please verify you are listed as an Instructor or a TA in the Canvas Course in order to be able to add Course Reserves items. Please visit Canvas @ Yale Course Roles and Permissions for more information about adding permissions in Canvas.

All Users: If you have having trouble accessing the Course Reserves module of Canvas, there is often a browser issue. Please see the following information:

Internet Explorer is not supported by Canvas, and Microsoft Edge does not work well with Canvas or Course Reserves and should be avoided.

Mac users may find it easier to use Firefox rather than Chrome.

If you are not able to see Course Reserves correctly in one browser, please try to update the browser or try another one.

Clearing your browser's cache and cookies may help when trying to resolve viewing issues in Canvas.

For Chrome: Click the three dots in the upper right corner > More tools > Clear browsing data.

For Firefox: Click the three lines in the upper right corner > History > Clear Recent History > Select Cookies and Cache > Clear Now.

For Safari: Go to Safari in the menu bar > Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data > Remove All.

For Edge: Click the three dots in the upper right corner > Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Under ‘Clear browsing data’, click ‘Choose what to clear’ > Select ‘Cached images and files’ and any other desired data types > Click ‘Clear now’.

Many tools in Canvas require third party cookies to be enabled. Learn how to check this setting with our Enabling Third Party Cookies on Your Browser article.

If you have tried all these methods and are still experiencing issues please contact reserves@yale.edu or your local reserves unit for further assistance.
