There are no current phone directories kept in Sterling Memorial Library, but there are many historic directories. You can look them up on Orbis by city. For example "Hartford Telephone Directory". However, the latest ones seem to be only up until the mid 1990s. You can find some in the Starr Reading room, others may be in the stacks or even at the LSF. It depends on the title and year of publication.

For current telephone books you may want to ask the reference librarian at the New Haven Public Library. The main number there is 203.946.8130. They may have the newest versions there. Otherwise, there are the white pages and yellow pages accessible online, also by town.
