How can I test out Yale Dataverse to see if it is a good fit for my needs?

Answer

Users are welcome to explore the Quick Start Guide to learn more about how to use Yale Dataverse and begin making a Dataverse for their project.

Some users elect to make a “mock dataverse” with a placeholder name and description and upload test data. This can allow you to see how things will display and test out various features. While this kind of test can help users orient themselves to Yale Dataverse, please keep the following in mind:

  • Though unpublished dataverses are not publicly visible, they are visible to the Yale Dataverse support team and other “super users”.
  • Once published it is difficult to completely delete datasets, and it may not be possible to completely remove them from the system or public view. Please keep any “mock dataverses” unpublished.
  • If we notice that your “mock dataverse” has been on the repository for over 6 months, we will follow up with whomever is listed as the account admin to help clean up this type of test account.
