Where can I find Yale College senior essays?

Yale does not have an institutionalized system in place to preserve undergraduate senior essays. The few copies of undergraduate essays that have been retained were collected for a specific reason, such as their having won a prize. These can be found by searching Archives at Yale, which describes and enables access to archival and manuscript collections at Yale.

Since 2006, some prize-winning senior essays have been uploaded to EliScholar and can be accessed at this link:   Library Prizes | Yale University Research | EliScholar – A Digital Platform for Scholarly Publishing at Yale

In all likelihood, any additional senior essays we have will be found in three collections:

If you find the essay that you’re looking for, you may request the original for use at Manuscripts and Archives or to have a copy made.

Please see our website for more information about registering to use special collections at Yale and requesting material for use in our reading rooms.
