Q: Where can I find a copy of the Oxford English Dictionary?
Answered by: Laura Sider

The Oxford English Dictionary (OED) is available in print and electronically.

To access the online version of the OED, go to the library homepage and select "Find Databases by Title."

Type "Oxford English Dictionary" into the search box. Click "Go."

Click the "Oxford English Dictionary" link to connect to the OED.

If I'm prompted for a login, what should I do?

You should not be prompted for a login when you connect to our databases.  Make sure you're connected to the Yale Network when you are off-campus by installing the Virtual Private Network (VPN).  This tool registers your computer's IP Address with the Yale Network, ensuring uninterupted access to all of our electronic resources.  More information is available here: http://web.library.yale.edu/help/off-campus-access-vpn

Print Copies

To access to records for print copies of the OED, click on this link.  Copies are also available at the Divinity Library and the Beinecke Rare Books and Manuscripts Library.
