Q: How can I submit a request to the library to purchase a new item?
Answered by: Laura Galas

Current Yale students, staff, and faculty can request material to be added to Yale Library's collection.

To request a new purchase, go to library.yale.edu

  • Navigate to the menu "Find, Request, And Use"
  • Select "Purchase Request" (image below)
    • Note: You must sign-in with your NetID and password

Once submitted, your request will go to the appropriate librarian, archivist, or Yale Library staff. If you would like to be notified when a purchase is made, select one of the "Please notify" options on the form. It can take several months before the book is available.

If you need your material soon, you may want to use Borrow Direct or Interlibrary Loan (ILL).
