How do I search for a book?

There are two ways to search for books at Yale University Library. You may use Orbis or Quicksearch.


You can search for materials in the library collection using Orbis, our online library catalog.  Search Orbis for all library holdings including but not limited to books, electronic resources, audiobooks, musical scores, magazines, newspapers and manuscripts.  You may search by keyword, author, title, journal title, call number, subject or special collections subject.  Advanced search options are also available.  Orbis can be accessed two ways from the library homepage:

From the Quicksearch drop down menu:

Or from the "Research" column on the left:


You may also use "Quicksearch," a catalog that searches both books (including materials at the Law Library) and Articles. You can initiate a Quicksearch search from the homepage:
